The Nature Festival is a celebration of the extensive and rich natural heritage of Madeira, promoted by the Regional Secretariat of Tourism and Culture of the island. The event aims to promote nature tourism on the island and encourage the practice of activities that allow direct contact with the rich nature of the archipelago. In addition, the festival celebrates the state of conservation and preservation of nature in Madeira. The Laurissilva forest, a millennial forest that has been part of the Biogenetic Reserves Network of the European Council since 1992, covers more than 20% of the island.

The event is open to participants of all ages and offers a wide range of sports activities, in which adrenaline and contact with nature are fundamental elements. Participants can challenge themselves in the mountains, sea, walking along the levadas that cross almost the entire island, descending the waterfalls in the mountains of the north coast, cycling through the trails of the forest, and learning about the cultural and historical roots of the island.
